Building

Building is the act of creating new rooms of the MUSH in which to interact. It can be quite fun to construct your own house, apartment, town, garden, or other locale and describe it to your taste.

Building requires "quota" and "currency". On Ankh, quota is unlimited and need not be worried about; currency takes the form of Francs, which you accumulate each day you log in, and which people may give you if you ask nicely. You will use up a few of these with each room you build.

We ask only that you keep your building within the scope of Ankh's theme (see news theme), that you give things decent descriptions, and that you not use up a huge amount of disk space creating mansions in which you will subsequently hide away all day. :)

In brief: to create a new room, you use the @dig command. To open exits into and out of a room, use the @open and @link commands. These can be combined to save time. See "help @dig" and "help @open" for details.

An "exit" leads only one way. To make a room fully accessible, you must create both an exit in and an exit out.

The @describe command is used to set a room description, which is what you see when you enter a room or when you type "look". You can use +view to add a greater level of detail to your rooms.

The @success, @osuccess, and @odrop commands are used to describe where people are going when they use an exit. These can be a little tricky. Again, read the help files for more.

A building tutorial will become available in the near future. In the meantime, talk to the wizards or ask your fellow players if you need help.

Channels

Various chat channels are provided for OOC discussion. You can use the channels from anywhere on the MUSH, so that discussions can continue even if the participants are involved in roleplay elsewhere. You can join or leave channels at any time. See 'help comsys' to learn more.

There are five existing channels. More may be added if the wizards perceive a need.

Please keep technical, political, and sacrilegious discussions to their appropriate channels. For help on joining these channels, consult 'help addcom'.
